Jobshop - staff redeployment system

The problem

Is your company in the process of re-organising? If you answered no to that question, you are probably in the minority. We are living in a time of rapid change, a large part of which is due to corporate change. The problem with change is that it results in some people becoming "redundant", while other parts of the company are short of people.

Description

Intexnet has developed a system to help the Human Resources staff place as many as possible of these so-called redundant people, and at the same time to minimise the loss of skills to the company. It is designed to be distributed through the organisation, so that affected staff members will enter information about themselves (if necessary with the assistance of a trained advisor). HR staff (corporate recruiters) responsible for filling vacancies elsewhere will enter information about these vacancies. The system is administered centrally (by for example, the head office HR staff).

Affected staff can browse the list of vacancies, while recruiters can browse the list of staff. Both parties have search facilities and filters to narrow the search for the correct vacancy or person down.

Once someone sees a vacancy that interests them, they can register their interest by following a simple procedure on the intranet site. If a recruiter spots a good candidate for the vacancy, they can register their interest in a similar way. The system can notify the other party by email.

The head office administrator can follow up these specific cases to establish the outcome and indicates the outcome by another simple operation.

Done in this way, the system does not interfere with the existing recruitment procedure and is reliable and secure.

All the information is collected in a database, from which reports can be generated, such as the percentage of "redundant" people being successfully placed, and the number of vacancies that could not be filled internally.

Requirements

The system requires Internet Information Server (4 or better) optionally with the SMTP (email) service enabled. Microsoft Access (Office 97 or better) or SQL Server (6.5 or better) are required to provide the back end data services. Other back end database systems on request.
