Legacy document archive

The Problem

Do you have a large collection of documents located somewhere on your company LAN? Although some of them may be several years old, they are still used from time to time.

Would you like to track which documents are referred to and when? Or even by who?

Are these documents a mix of HTML documents, Word or Wordperfect documents, spreadsheets, presentation, project files etc?

Description

Intexnet's document archive and web directory solves many of these problems, along with minimal administration, simplicity of use and low cost.

The document archive uses Microsoft's Index Server (a no cost option for Microsoft  NT servers) to index and organise documents and to power high speed full-text searching across the archive. The Intexnet document archive hides the complexity of Index Server by providing a user-friendly front end for searching, combined with a familiar Windows Explorer like document browse feature.

Intexnet will also correctly configure the server to log access to these documents. This will allow a document controller, for example, to remove (or relocate) documents that have not been opened or read for a specified period.

The document archive is not limited to web pages. It is equally capable of handling Microsoft Office documents, project documents, Word Perfect or WordPro documents, spreadsheets, drawings or presentations.

Requirements

The system requires Internet Information Server Version 4 (or better) with the integrated Index Server component.
